Lesson for AMG class - Tuesday, October 9

Music Theory Fundamentals - includes minor scales, very technical (9 minutes)
Contemporary Music Theory - a bit more approachable but long (18 minutes)

Italian Terms - Internet Exploration
You will be divided in to groups. In your groups, you are going to look up words and definitions for the following. Use the worksheet you will be given in class.
Group 1. Five different musical terms/symbols used to describe volume in music.
Group 2. Five different musical terms used to describe fast music.
Group 3. Five different musical terms used to describe slow music.
Group 4. Five different musical terms used to describe changes in speed in music.
Group 5. Five different musical terms/symboles used to describe articulation.
Make sure that everyone in your group writes down all your terms and definitions.
Once all the groups have completed their lists, you will re-group yourselves in new groups with ONE person from EACH group and share your findings with each other.
By the end of the class you should have a list of twenty-five musical terms and symbols!
Start by consulting the following websites:

Band Boot Camp Day!
Thursday Feb 2 is our very important and enriching BAND BOOT CAMP at Northlea. We'll meet at 8:15 AM at Leaside or 8:30 at Northlea, and be all wrapped up by noon. A morning of great musical training with expert conductors - be there!!

Holiday Performances
It's almost the Holiday season here at LHS - just a few important reminders...
- the LHS band will be playing Thursday Dec 8 for Grade 8 Information Night - pizza dinner will be provided and you can earn volunteer hours!
- the LHS band will be playing Friday Dec 23 for the Holiday Assembly - if you're in school on this day, join us, it's always so much fun!
What Courses Can I Take?
It's never too early to start planning your course selections for the 2012 school year! You can take Band, Guitar, or Music & Computers in the senior grades at Leaside, so we hope you'll make room for us in you timetable! See Ms. Simmons if you have any questions!
